Hugh Jackman’s comeback as Wolverine will be featured in Deadpool 3, Ryan Reynolds said on social media on Tuesday. He also disclosed that the sequel would be released on September 6, 2024.
The first Deadpool movie after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox will be Deadpool 3. Because Reynolds’ character was first established in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and because other characters made brief appearances in Reynolds’ movies, Deadpool at Fox was only distantly associated with the X-Men universe.
Prior to Logan, Jackman insisted it was his final outing as the character. There is opportunity for Wolverine to show up before the events of that movie because Logan was set in the future when Wolverine’s powers were waning.
Speaking to the camera, Reynolds put up the video. When Reynolds asks Jackman whether he’ll play Wolverine one more time, Jackman is seen walking by in the background.
“Yeah, fine, Ryan,” says Jackman. The song “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston is playing while the video keeps making puns like “Coming Hughn.”
Before revealing the release date, Wolverine slashes the Deadpool logo.
